Trifluoperazine is a phenothiazine and antipsychotic agent. It exerts its antipsychotic effect by blocking central dopamine receptors, thereby preventing effects such as delusions and hallucinations caused by an excess of dopamine.

| Uses | Used in the management of psychotic disorders, such as acute or chronic catatonic, hebephrenic, and paranoid schizophrenia; psychosis due to organic brain damage, toxic psychosis, and the manic phase of manic-depressive illness. At a low dose, Trifluoperazine HCl Tablets are used to manage anxiety and depression. It is used in this way for short periods of time. Trifluoperazine HCL tablets may also be used to treat nausea and vomiting. |
